Spin and Cover Beginning Digraphs Winter Activities Winter Literacy

Students will use spinners and word mats to practice initial or beginning digraph sounds with this fun Winter themed spin and cover Kindergarten beginning digraph activity.

Spin and Cover Directions: Use a pencil and paperclip on the spinner. Students will spin, and say the sound of the digraph the spinner it lands on. Then students will “cover up” the picture that begins with that digraph sound.

You can add to the fun by using Winter themed mini-erasers as covers!

Your students will love with this fun way to practice beginning digraph sounds.

Included in this activity:

• 20 spin and cover digraph mats – in color and black & white
• Each mat has 8 digraphs in the spinner {sh-, qu-, th-, ch-, wh-, wr-, ph-, kn-)
• Each mat has 16 pictures to be covered
• Digraphs are in the same order in the spinner on each mat, but pictures are random.
• There is a picture key included for teachers or students.
