Students will decode words with the Sh, Sh, Th, or Wh beginning digraph by looking at pictures that represent each letter(s) and writing the word on whiteboards.

The next slide reveals the correct answer, and there’s even a 30-second timer on each slide to keep the game moving—or you can remove it if needed.

How to Play:

1. Show first slide with beginning sound pictures
2. Start the 30 second timer
3. Students will have 30 seconds to write the letter for the beginning sound of each picture
4. This will make a word that begins with Sh, Ch, Th, or Wh – you can choose to have students show their work when time is up by flipping over their whiteboards and holding them up then move to the next slide to see who got it right OR you can simply move to the next slide and let everyone make corrections if needed
5. On the next slide the word is revealed (writing guides are used to help those still learning to write)
