Word mapping made easy! These science of reading decodable strategies word mapping Mats, have been designed to help your K-2 students. Orthographic Mapping strengthens phonemic awareness while simultaneously building an association of sounds to the spellings of words.

These are the perfect low-prep literacy centers to add to your phonics activities. They can be used all year long.

With these word mapping mats, you can be sure that your phonics activities are based on the Science of Reading body of research.

Phoneme-Grapheme Mapping was created to help students understand the reality that the number of sounds (phonemes) they hear in a word may be different from the number of letters that represent those sounds.

Each mat style includes space for words with 3 sounds, 4 sounds, and 5 sounds.

Students will say the word (key included), map it or tap it, graph it, and then finally write the word.

You can use a dry erase sleeve so that these mats can be used over and over again.
